Dialogue of Cultures: how international students discover Russian art

9 December 2025

Art is a universal language that does not require translation. This is especially vividly felt in the walls of the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy.

Last Thursday, students of the preparatory department, together with curators Violetta Valerievna Zyatkova and Ekaterina Yurievna Khabarova, visited the Voronezh Regional Art Museum named after I.N. Kramskoy. It was not just an excursion, but a real immersion into the soul of Russia, its history, emotions and philosophy.

Our students were welcome guests for the museum staff. The guys looked with genuine interest at the masterpieces of Russian artists that were familiar only from reproductions. For them, Ivan Aivazovsky's "Ship in the Stormy Sea" reflects a man's struggle with irresistible forces, which is close to the Russian idea of fate and perseverance.

The paintings of the Wanderers were particularly enthusiastic. Scenes from folk life, the social agenda, mastery in portraying characters – all this becomes a visual aid to the history of Russia in the 19th century.

Visiting the museum by international students is more than just cultural leisure. It is a live lesson in Russian language and history, a way to overcome stereotypes and see a multifaceted Russia.

We believe that art unites. And each such excursion is a small but important step towards making the world closer and clearer.
