Rector of VSUFT congratulated the Voronezh Theological Seminary on its significant anniversary – 280 years

In 2025, the Voronezh Theological Seminary will celebrate a significant date—the 280th anniversary of its founding. In honor of this important event, timed to coincide with the feast day of St. Mitrofan, Bishop of Voronezh, Mikhail Valentinovich Drapalyuk, Rector of Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G.F. Morozov, congratulated the staff of the region's oldest theological educational institution.

In his congratulations on behalf of the faculty and staff of VSUFT, Mikhail Valentinovich emphasized his deep respect for the work of the seminary, which for nearly three centuries has served as a center for spiritual education and the training of personnel for service to the Orthodox Church.

"Your work to preserve and develop spiritual traditions, instill moral values, and educate youth deserves sincere admiration and gratitude", - the Rector of VSUFT noted in his address.

The anniversary celebrations took place in the seminary's assembly hall. The programme included a film screening dedicated to the seminary's 280th anniversary, welcoming remarks by Archpriest Roman Tkachev, the seminary's rector, and congratulations from representatives of the Academic Committee, the St. Petersburg Theological Academy, the Voronezh Region Rectors' Council, and other distinguished guests.

A special feature of the programme was a report by Hieromonk Konstantin (Reva), the seminary's vice-rector for research, on key events and outstanding figures in the institution's history over the 280 years of its existence. Metropolitan Sergiy of Voronezh and Liski, the head of the Voronezh Metropolitanate, addressed the congregation with a closing address. The celebration concluded with a concert by the seminary's combined choir.

Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies, congratulating its colleagues on the anniversary, wishes the entire staff of the theological seminary good health, success in their studies and teaching, as well as blessed labors for the benefit of the Church and the Fatherland.
