The All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference on Innovative Forestry was held at VSUFT

6 June 2025

The large-scale All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference entitled "Innovative Forestry and Reforestation: Results and Prospects", timed to coincide with two significant dates — the 115th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding scientist and forester Mikhail Mikhailovich Veresin and the 95th anniversary of the university was held at Voronezh State University of Forestry and Technologies named after G.F. Morozov. The event was attended by leading forestry experts from all over Russia, including representatives of "VNIILGISbiotech", VSUFT, VSAU, Bauman Moscow State Technical University and other institutions.

Oleg Mikhailovich Korchagin, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIILGISbiotech" addressed the audience with a welcoming speech, noting the importance of such events for the development of forestry in Russia.

The scientific programme of the conference included discussions on key issues in modern forestry. Professor Alexei Ivanovich Sivolapov presented a report on the scientific legacy of Mikhail Mikhailovich Veresin. Doctor of Agricultural Sciences Vyacheslav Ivanovich Mikhin, head of the Department of Forest Cultures, shared the results of research on the formation of forest reclamation complexes in the Central Black Earth Region.

Presentations on the practical aspects of reforestation were of particular interest. Lecturer Valery Pavlovich Kaloshin spoke about the successful experience of creating oak cultures on clearings, postgraduate student Konstantin Viktorovich Bobreshov presented data on the natural restoration of man-made lands, and associate professor Alexey Ivanovich Zhurykhine introduced participants to promising technologies for the restoration of pine plantations.

Concluding the conference, the chairman of the organising committee, Vyacheslav Ivanovich Mikhin, noted the high scientific level of the presentations and expressed his gratitude to all participants for the fruitful exchange of experience. Special words of appreciation were expressed to young researchers — students, master's students and postgraduates — whose work demonstrates the continuity of scientific traditions in Russian forestry.

The event not only allowed for a summary of current achievements in the field of reforestation, but also helped to identify key areas of scientific research in this strategically important industry.
